The News: Anurag Thakur claims BCCI reached a decision regarding matches between neighboring nations a long time ago.
A series between Pakistan and India won’t be possible until the border disputes between the two neighbors are resolved, according to Indian Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
Due to diplomatic tensions between the two nations, cricketing relations between India and Pakistan have been on hold for years. As a result, only international cricket grounds are used for the teams’ encounters in ICC and Asia Cup matches.
The previous president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Thakur, stated in an interview with the Indian media that “the BCCI had long ago decided that bilateral matches with Pakistan will not happen until border relations are normalized.”
I realize that every regular citizen of the nation feels this way, he remarked.
It should be mentioned that Pakistan recently lost the second match against India in the Asia Cup by 228 runs. The national team’s hopes of making it to the finals were dashed on Thursday during a pivotal and exciting final over after the Green Shirts lost to Sri Lanka later in the same competition.
In the meantime, India has moved ahead of Pakistan in the ICC ODI team rankings as a result of their outstanding performance in One Day Internationals (ODIs). The Blues have moved up to number two, while Pakistan, who was previously ranked first, has dropped to third.
Pakistan is in third place with 115 ratings and 3,102 points, while India is placed second with 116 ratings and 4,516 points.
On the other hand, on September 17 in Colombo, India and Sri Lanka will now play in the Asia Cup 2023 championship game.
