Awareness Walk Held to Tackle Smog and Air Pollution

Sialkot – A highly impactful awareness walk was held in Sialkot to address the serious threat of smog and air pollution. The event was led by Mughiza Imtiaz, a renowned social activist, environmentalist, and advocate for public health, who has consistently worked on initiatives aimed at improving environmental conditions in Pakistan. She was joined by Deputy Director Social Welfare Ch. Sharif Ghuman and Muhammad Ashfaq Nazar, founder of Rose Welfare Organization. The walk sought to educate the public on the detrimental effects of smog on health, climate, and the ecosystem, and to promote sustainable, eco-friendly practices.

While addressing the participants, Mughiza Imtiaz passionately stated:
“Smog is not just an environmental issue; it is a public health crisis that threatens the lives of millions. The time to act is now. Every individual has a role to play—whether it’s planting trees, reducing emissions, or spreading awareness. Together, we can secure a cleaner and healthier future for our coming generations.”

The event, organized in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and Rose Welfare Organization, saw participation from prominent figures, including Abrar Abdullah (Assistant Director), Muhammad Afzal Butt, Zubaida Kosar, Faisal Butt, Muhammad Adeel, and Aamir Javed, along with a large number of social workers and community members.

During the walk, participants carried banners with slogans promoting clean air and urged industries, vehicle owners, and farmers to adopt measures like reducing emissions and avoiding the burning of crop residues to minimize pollution.

The awareness walk concluded with a collective pledge to take proactive steps in combating air pollution and making Pakistan a healthier place to live.
