Minister Planning Visits Karachi to Highlights URAAN PAKISTAN Economic Transformation Plan

Karachi: Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, paid a one-day visit to Karachi, where he visited the Jam House and was warmly received by Jam Karam Ali and Jam Ali.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Governors of Sindh and Balochistan, diplomats from China, Oman, UAE, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Korea and other friendly countries, as well as prominent members of Sindh’s business community, including
Fazal Dadabhoy,
Chairman Dadabhoy Companies; Rehan Chawla, Biggest Rice Exporter in Pakistan; and Asad Khan, Tycoon from Dubai estate property.

During the visit, the 15 member PML-N leadership commended the PML-N government and Minister Ahsan Iqbal for the launch of URAAN PAKISTAN – National Economic Transformation Plan, based on the 5Es framework under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Minister Iqbal highlighted that URAAN PAKISTAN is a transformative initiative designed for the people of Pakistan, focusing on creating an export-oriented economy, fostering a youth-driven techno-economy, addressing climate resilience, enhancing water and food security, promoting green energy, and achieving equitable socioeconomic development by empowering youth and women. He emphasized that the PML-N government prioritizes the people’s agenda and is committed to overcoming national challenges through policy reforms and strategic public expenditure.

In his remarks, the Minister stressed the PML-N government’s pivotal role in transforming Karachi and Sindh. He recalled the restoration of peace, security, and stability in Karachi during the party’s 2013-2018 tenure and highlighted the resolution of the energy crisis and improvements in road connectivity during that period.

Despite fiscal constraints, the Federal Government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif continues to prioritize development in Karachi. Key initiatives include mass transit systems, water supply projects, road development, housing projects, and other transformative efforts aimed at uplifting the people of Sindh.

Minister Iqbal shared his personal connection to Karachi, recalling his childhood in the city and describing it as his home. He assured that under the PML-N government, every effort would be made to improve the socioeconomics of Karachi and the broader Sindh region.

The Minister reaffirmed that Karachi and Sindh are integral to Pakistan’s economic transformation and reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a prosperous and resilient future for all.
