Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening their comprehensive relationship, encompassing political, economic, education, science and technology, cultural, and people-to-people ties.
This mutual dedication was solidified during a meeting between Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Kakar and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, taking place on the sidelines of the Third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing. The leaders were joined by their respective ministers and senior officials.
In their discussions, the two leaders underscored the enduring and robust friendship between Pakistan and China, vowing to enhance high-level dialogue and engagement.
Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar extended congratulations to the Chinese leadership for the successful hosting of the Third Belt and Road Forum. He acknowledged the global significance of the Belt and Road Initiative in terms of connectivity and shared prosperity.
Among the topics of conversation were bilateral cooperation within the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the prospects of further strengthening economic linkages.
Prime Minister Kakar stressed the vital role of CPEC in Pakistan’s economic development and expressed satisfaction over its expansion into new areas of development, including industrial projects, livelihood initiatives, information technology, mining and minerals exploration, and agriculture. He conveyed his confidence that Chinese investments in Specialized Economic Zones would contribute to diversifying Pakistan’s export portfolio and expanding its industrial base.
Premier Li Qiang highlighted the consistent growth of bilateral cooperation and expressed optimism about the positive momentum of CPEC projects. He anticipated that leadership consensus would further boost trade and economic relations between the two nations.
The two Prime Ministers also presided over a signing ceremony where various Memorandums of Understanding and agreements were inked in diverse areas. These agreements encompass cooperation in commerce, communication, and transport (including ML-I), connectivity, food security, research, media exchanges, space collaboration, urban sustainable development, capacity building, mineral development, industrial cooperation, climate change, and vaccine development. This multifaceted cooperation underscores the enduring and dynamic partnership between Pakistan and China.
