Sydney : The Diabetes Centre Australia organized a successful Diabetes Awareness & Fundraising Dinner at the Grand Royale Lounge in Granville, Sydney, marking a significant achievement in raising funds to support the construction of The Diabetes Centre (TDC) in Sahiwal.
The evening commenced with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Mustafa Shahid, followed by a warm welcome address from Hafiz Shahid Iqbal, President of TDC Australia Sydney. Mr. Mustafa Chaudhry, Patron of TDC Australia, enlightened the audience on the significance of charity in Islam and its positive impact on the community.
Dr. Asrar Khan, President of TDC Australia, provided an insightful overview of the organization’s ongoing projects, highlighting the transformative work being done for diabetes patients. A key highlight of the evening was a powerful awareness lecture delivered by Prof. Jeremy Chapman, who discussed Type-1 diabetes, pancreas/Islet cell transplantation, and the future prospects of deceased solid organ transplantation in Pakistan. This was followed by an engaging Q&A session.
The event was graced by the presence of Senator David Shoebridge and H.E. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, whose support greatly enhanced the event’s impact. An exciting auction, led by Mr. Hossin Goss, Mr. Hussein Salem, and Mr. Naeem Haq, raised significant contributions for TDC.
Special thanks go to Ms. Sana Zafar and Ms. Sayda Fareeha for their contributions throughout the evening. Attendees were also treated to a mesmerizing classical performance by Ustad Khan Rafaqat Ali Khan, adding a memorable touch to the night.
