Army Major Martyred in Encounter with Militants in Balochistan’s Zhob District

In a recent intelligence-based operation conducted in the Sambaza area of Balochistan’s Zhob district, an army major and three militants lost their lives in a fierce gunfight, announced the Pakistani military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to ISPR reports, security forces initiated the operation, resulting in a swift engagement with the militants. The intense exchange of fire led to the neutralization of three militants, accompanied by the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the encounter site.

Tragically, Major Babar Khan, a valiant soldier aged 33 and hailing from District Mianwali, laid down his life during the operation, demonstrating exceptional courage and commitment while leading his troops from the front. Major Khan’s ultimate sacrifice epitomizes the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces in combating terrorism and ensuring the nation’s security.

Following the confrontation, a sanitization operation is underway to eradicate any lingering terrorist presence in the area, emphasizing the military’s determination to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Balochistan, a province bordering Afghanistan, has been plagued by a persistent low-level insurgency perpetrated by separatist elements. Recent months have witnessed an uptick in violent incidents, underscoring the challenges faced by security forces in quelling extremist activities in the region.

In a particularly egregious attack last month, assailants targeted a bus on a highway near Noshki district, resulting in the tragic deaths of nine individuals from the eastern Punjab province. The outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the heinous act, further highlighting the ongoing threat posed by militant groups operating in Balochistan.

Despite concerted efforts by the government to address militancy, sporadic outbreaks of violence continue to disrupt peace and stability in the region, necessitating continued vigilance and decisive action by security forces to safeguard the populace and uphold the rule of law.
