Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated the government’s firm commitment to eradicating the scourge of smuggling and ensuring peace throughout the country.
He expressed these sentiments during his visit to the residence of the late Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi in Abbottabad today. Inspector Tirmizi was martyred during an operation against smugglers in Dera Ismail Khan.
Accompanied by Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar and Amir Muqam, the Prime Minister offered condolences to the bereaved family and presented them with financial support under the Shuhada package.
Prime Minister Sharif stressed the importance of combating smuggling to bolster the economy, stating that significant amounts of national revenue could be saved and redirected towards national progress and prosperity.
He disclosed his directives to the interior minister to collaborate closely with provincial authorities to tackle smuggling effectively. He commended Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir for the Pakistan Army’s assistance in addressing this issue.
The Prime Minister honored the memory of Shaheed Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi, affirming that his sacrifice would not be forgotten and describing him as a national hero.
Regarding the Shuhada package, Prime Minister Sharif announced its replication at the federal level, mirroring the one already in place in Punjab. He detailed the financial support to be provided to the families of martyrs, including cash prizes and assistance for housing, education, and healthcare.
