WHO provides advance equipment to control vector-borne diseases in Pakistan

Islamabad : WHO provides advance entomological surveillance & research equipment to research and academic institutions, a step towards institutional strengthening for effective control of vector-borne diseases in Pakistan. WHO in collaboration with the Government of Norway, handed over entomological surveillance tools, research equipment and vector control items to Health Service Academy, Islamabad & National Entomology Research Lab of Pir Mehr Ali Shah (PMAS) Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi.

1To enable students and field staff to efficiently conduct entomological surveillance and vector control techniques, they were provided with these materials, which include advanced incubators, microscopes, autoclave machines, vortex mixers, and Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs).During the event, Dr Luo Dapeng, WHO Representative in Pakistan, reiterated WHOs commitment for improving public health in Pakistan by continuing combating vector borne diseases, particularly dengue and malaria outbreaks in the country.
