Islamabad: Ufone 4G and Huawei won the GSMA GLOMO Award in the “Best Mobile Innovation for Emerging Markets” category at the Mobile World Congress for the groundbreaking Microwave SuperHub solution. The global first-ever trial and commercial deployment of the SuperHub feature was conducted on the Ufone network during Q4 2023, increasing the spectral efficiency of the microwave spectrum.

Designed to overcome the obstacles posed by limited spectrum resources, spatial constraints and frequency acquisition difficulties, SuperHub has enabled Ufone to maximize the reuse of microwave spectrum with unprecedented efficiency. This was made possible by reusing the same microwave frequency channel over multiple links at an aggregation site with a spatial separation of up to 20 degrees.
