Regional Director of IFC called on Federal Minister Privatisation

Islamabad : Federal Minister for Privatisation Fawad Hasan Fawad held a meeting with the regional Director of International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Pakistan, Middle East and Afghanistan Khawaja Aftab Ahmed along with his team. The discussion focused on key areas of cooperation.
The IFC team briefed the minister about various past and current investments in Pakistan and expressed their continued commitment to Pakistan. They highlighted significant developments in various sectors particularly power and energy. Notably the IFC’s effort to promote private sector participation for bringing efficiency and reliability in transmission and distribution networks were also highlighted.
Minister for Privatisation acknowledged the contributions of IFC in Pakistan’s economic landscape. He emphasized that cutting down the T&D losses is a priority area for the government. At the same time the aging T&D network of Discos is in urgent need of investment and better governance. He emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth and sustainability through innovative solutions for ailing SOEs. The IFC team also expressed their commitment for continued support for the government’s plan.
The meeting concluded with an understanding of maintaing continous engagement and cooperation.
