(APP): On September 16, Pakistan will play Indonesia in a Davis Cup World Group-II match.
The Pakistan Sports Complex at Islamabad’s Aisam-ul-Haq Tennis Pavilion will host the start of the two-day Davis Cup World Group-II match between Pakistan and Indonesia on Saturday.
Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan, two seasoned players, are leading the Pakistani team, which also features Muhammad Shoaib, Muhammad Abid, and rookie Barkat Ullah, according to a Pakistan Tennis Federation spokeswoman.
Mushaf Zia, a former Davis Cup competitor, is the team’s coach, and Muhammad Shahid will serve as physiotherapist.
On September 11, the Indonesian Davis Cup squad, which consists of three players, a captain, and a coach, arrived in Islamabad. David Agung Susanto, Ignatius Anthony Susanto, and Gunawan Trismuwantara make up the group.
The team is led by playing captain Wirjawan Sugiharta, with Suharyadi serving as manager, Robby Sudrajat as strength and conditioning coach, and Suharto as masseuse.
On September 12, Hany Hamied Ali ElKhafief, an Egyptian ITF Referee, arrived to oversee the match.
Gianluca Moscarella, an Italian chair umpire, came on Thursday, while Ivan Yovchev, a Bulgarian chair umpire, will arrive on Friday.Essam Maher Mohammad Saleh, the chief of umpires, is expected to arrive later today (Thursday).
Salim Saifullah Khan, president of the PTF, visited the Davis Cup site, spoke with the Pakistani and Indonesian teams, and sent his best wishes for the match.
He highlighted his delight with the overall organizational setup, including the Islamabad Police’s provision of protection.
He also expressed gratitude to Pakistan Sports Board and the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination for their support of the occasion.
