In a significant move to uphold the integrity of national identity documentation, Minister for Interior Sarfraz Ahmad Bugti has declared that the government is set to launch a comprehensive crackdown against holders of fake Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).
In a recent interview with a private television channel, Minister Bugti emphasized that law enforcement agencies have been actively taking action against non-registered and illegal foreigners who have been residing in Pakistan for an extended period. The government’s intent is to welcome foreign nationals to Pakistan, provided they possess valid and lawful documentation.
Responding to a query about terrorism incidents in Pakistan, Minister Bugti pointed out that several illegal Afghan individuals have been found to be involved in acts of terrorism and street crimes within the country.
Regarding the establishment of holding centers for non-registered individuals, Minister Bugti assured that all necessary facilities are being provided to Afghan families at these centers. When asked about the timeline for repatriating non-registered individuals to their home country, he estimated that approximately three to four months would be required to facilitate their return to Afghanistan.
This crackdown on fake CNIC holders is a crucial step in maintaining national security and ensuring the legal status of individuals residing in Pakistan, while also underlining the government’s commitment to regional cooperation and security.
