Replica of Pakistan’s Alamgiri Gate Unveiled at Beijing’s World Park

BEIJING – The Pakistan Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, unveiled a newly constructed replica of the Alamgiri Gate at World Park in Fengtai District, Beijing. The Alamgiri Gate, the iconic entrance of the UNESCO World Heritage Lahore Fort, was originally built by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the 17th century in Lahore, Pakistan.

This event marks the second replica of a Pakistani monument to be unveiled in the Chinese capital in recent months, emphasizing the efforts to further strengthen cultural and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, organized by the Embassy of Pakistan, Ambassador Haque underscored the historical significance of the Alamgiri Gate and expressed hope that the replica would stand as a symbol of the exemplary friendship between China and Pakistan. He noted, “This replica will stand tall for years and decades to come, encouraging and inspiring Chinese friends, brothers, sisters, and travelers to visit Pakistan.”

Ambassador Haque highlighted that 2023 is being celebrated as a year of tourism by both Pakistan and China. He believed that this replica would attract Chinese tourists to explore the historical and cultural sites in Pakistan, further enhancing people-to-people exchanges.

In emphasizing the enduring relationship between the two nations, Ambassador Haque stressed the pivotal role of cultural cooperation in bolstering mutual trust and strengthening the strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan. He noted that the friendship between the two countries was historic, unique, and very special, nurtured over the years by successive generations of people. Passing on these sentiments of friendship and goodwill to future generations was of utmost importance, he added.

Ambassador Haque also extended his gratitude to the Fengtai district administration for their support in implementing and completing this project.

The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of numerous Chinese scholars, media representatives, and members of the Pakistani community, further enhancing the cultural and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
