Bayern come from behind to beat Augsburg

FC Bayern beat Augsburg 3-1 to extend their lead in the Bundesliga overnight. Dimitrios Giannoulis handed Augsburg the lead after the half-hour, but Jamal Musiala levelled the scores before half-time. Harry Kane put Bayern in front before Leroy Sané’s deflected shot put the game to bed in added time.

Bayern started with Jonas Urbig in goal and Konrad Laimer, Eric Dier, Minjae Kim and Josip Stanišić in defence. Joshua Kimmich and João Palhinha anchored a midfield featuring Michael Olise, Musiala and Sané, with Kane up front. Musiala had to be replaced with injury early in the second half, Thomas Müller taking over. Serge Gnabry replaced Olise before Raphaël Guerreiro and Gabriel Vidović came on for Sané and Kane in the closing minutes.
Munich dominated possession but struggled to find a way through Augsburg’s solid defence at first. The particularly industrious Sané miscued a volley from a corner before hitting the side-netting from a tight angle. Samuel Essende fired wide and Sané put a shot over at the other end, but the home side took the lead when a free-kick found Giannoulis, who fired past Urbig.

Augsburg keeper Finn Dahmen proved equal to an Olise header before Musiala saw an effort blocked but kept hold of the ball on the ground and slotted past Dahmen. Kane’s free-kick into the wall meant it was level at half-time.
