Three years of war in Ukraine
Islamabad : France continues to provide support to Ukraine in various sectors (military, humanitarian, reconstruction, fight against impunity).
As of 1 September 2024, more than €434 million had been dedicated to humanitarian aid, helping improve access to healthcare, guarantee food security, protect fundamental rights and support vital sectors such as water, hygiene, education and health.
France is also contributing to Ukraine’s reconstruction at local, European and international levels. Flagship projects include a civilian aid fund of €200 million aimed at projects supporting critical infrastructure. The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) now has a mandate and can work in Ukraine, to finance and support reconstruction projects.
France continues its determined fight against impunity in order to do victims justice. It is taking part in work on a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine that Kyiv launched in 2022. France will continue to support the essential work of the International Criminal Court to ensure the perpetrators of international law violations are held to account.
Lastly, France is also at work alongside its European partners and within international organizations. The European Union and its international partners have adopted several sanctions packages against Russia and Belarus. These measures, stepping up the sanctions adopted against Russia in 2014, when it illegally annexed Crimea, are having a significant impact on the Russian economy and will continue to do so.
