Ambassador Masood Khan Acknowledges Pakistan’s Progress in Education

On October 23, 2023, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, highlighted the remarkable progress made in education in Pakistan. He stated that the country has witnessed impressive advancements in its education sector, with improvements in access, quality, academic achievements, and gender parity over time.

Speaking at the Annual Gala event of the DC chapter of The Citizen Foundation (TCF)-USA in Washington, Ambassador Khan acknowledged the achievements but also stressed that there is still a long journey ahead to ensure every child receives an education of high quality.

He noted that in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Pakistan needs more schools, increased funding, better infrastructure, qualified teachers, enhanced gender equity, updated curricula, and the incorporation of modern educational technologies.

Ambassador Khan also praised the valuable contributions of TCF-USA, emphasizing that TCF has made a significant impact by establishing 1,900 schools, benefiting nearly 300,000 children. The DC chapter alone has set up 43 schools in underprivileged areas of Pakistan, offering over 5,000 children the opportunity to build promising futures.

He further mentioned that TCF has earned respect both within Pakistan and abroad, and recalled its contributions during critical times such as devastating floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The high-profile annual fund-raising event witnessed the participation of approximately 700 leading businessmen, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders of Pakistani descent. An impressive amount of $3,510,400 was collected during the event, with a commitment to establishing and supporting seven new schools, thanks to the generosity of the Pakistani-American community members of TCF-USA
