Rupee Strengthens: Pakistani Currency Gains Ground Against the US Dollar

On October 19, 2023, the Pakistani Rupee experienced a gain of Rs1.47 against the US Dollar in interbank trading, resulting in a closing rate of Rs278.81 compared to the previous day’s closing rate of Rs280.28. In the open market, the buying and selling rates for the Dollar were reported as Rs279 and Rs281, respectively, according to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP).

Moreover, there were notable changes in exchange rates for other major currencies:

  1. Euro: Its price decreased by Rs2.73, closing at Rs293.75, in contrast to the previous closing rate of Rs296.48, as reported by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
  2. Japanese Yen: It lost 01 paisa to close at Rs1.86.
  3. British Pound: The exchange rate of the Pound decreased by Rs4.08, closing at Rs337.85, compared to the previous closing rate of Rs341.93.
  4. Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal: The exchange rates of the Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal decreased by 40 and 39 paisa, respectively, to close at Rs75.90 and Rs74.33.
