Today marks the observance of the International Day Against Breast Cancer, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and advocating for improved access to timely diagnosis and treatment, particularly for women.
In recognition of this day, President Dr. Arif Alvi underscored the alarming situation regarding breast cancer in Pakistan, where the country reports one of the highest mortality rates due to breast cancer in Asia. He emphasized the need for early detection of the disease among women in Pakistan, particularly given the limited availability of breast cancer screening and treatment facilities. Raising awareness and addressing this critical issue are paramount in the fight against breast cancer, as it remains a leading cause of death among women in the country.
On this International Day Against Breast Cancer, Pakistan joins the global community in supporting initiatives to promote education, early detection, and improved treatment for this life-threatening disease. Increased awareness and accessible healthcare services will contribute significantly to saving lives and preventing the progression of breast cancer.
