Third Belt and Road Forum Commences in Beijing, China

The opening ceremony of the third Belt and Road Forum is currently underway in Beijing, marking a significant milestone in international cooperation and development.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, inaugurating the forum, emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative represents a collective pursuit of development for all of humanity. He noted that it has created a new avenue for global exchanges and established a fresh framework for international cooperation.

President Xi acknowledged the remarkable achievements of the past decade and stressed the importance of recognizing humanity as a shared community with a common destiny. He highlighted the significance of win-win cooperation as the key to success in launching major initiatives that benefit all.

China’s commitment to deepening Belt and Road partnerships of cooperation and ushering this cooperation into a new stage of high-quality development was reaffirmed by President Xi. He pledged increased financial support for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) related projects through market-based and business cooperation. Specifically, China Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of China will establish 350 billion yuan financing windows each, with an additional 80 billion yuan allocated to the Silk Road Fund.

Addressing the forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the shared aspiration of China, Russia, and many other nations for equal, mutually beneficial cooperation that leads to comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term economic progress and social well-being. He praised President Xi’s Belt and Road plan for creating a fair platform for global cooperation.

Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev acknowledged China’s critical role in global security and its status as an engine of economic and technological advancement. He commended the Belt and Road Initiative as a popular project and a platform for international cooperation.

Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar is representing Pakistan at the forum and is expected to discuss the development successes achieved under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) over the past decade, as well as future goals and Pakistan’s continued cooperation on this key project.

During the visit, Prime Minister Kakar will engage in bilateral meetings with Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. A series of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding are anticipated in various sectors, such as agriculture, health, industry, green energy, and space technology.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary also includes a visit to Urumqi, where he will meet with local leaders and business representatives to enhance trade, investment, and people-to-people contacts. This forum marks a crucial platform for strengthening international collaboration and economic development, emphasizing the shared vision of nations striving for a more prosperous future for all.
