Foreign Minister to Highlight Gaza Humanitarian Crisis at OIC Ministerial Meeting

Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani is set to voice Pakistan’s grave concerns regarding the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza and stress the immediate necessity for a ceasefire during his participation in the Ministerial Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee. This emergency, open-ended Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for October 18 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has been called by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address the crisis in Gaza and the severe humanitarian plight of the besieged population there. The statement from the Foreign Office disclosed, “During his address at the Ministerial Meeting, Foreign Minister Jilani will articulate Pakistan’s deep concerns about the grim humanitarian situation in Gaza and underscore the urgent requirements for a ceasefire, the removal of the blockade, and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.” In addition to this, the Foreign Minister will also engage in one-on-one discussions with counterparts from other OIC member states on the sidelines of the event.
