
On October 16, three exceptional athletes from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) departed for China to participate in the upcoming Asian Para Games. Originally postponed due to COVID-19, these games are now scheduled to take place from October 22 to 28 in Hangzhou under the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) and Hangzhou Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (HAPGOC). Representing Pakistan, the three athletes from KP are set to compete in various sports.
The KP athletes include Muhammad Ibrahim, a Table Tennis player with a standing disability, Altaf Ur Rehman, a wheelchair Table Tennis player and bronze medalist at the World Islamic Games, and Ziaur Rahman, a badminton player with a standing disability from Swat.
The departure of these three athletes is a matter of pride for the province and the country. Muhammad Ibrahim has previously represented Pakistan in various international competitions, including the Para Asian Games in Incheon and the Asian Games in Korea in 2015. He has a strong track record of success and is expected to perform well in these games. Altaf Ur Rehman, a wheelchair Table Tennis player, is another accomplished athlete who previously secured a bronze medal in the World Islamic Games and is among Pakistan’s wheelchair Table Tennis history.
The athletes expressed their optimism about achieving good results in their respective competitions. Muhammad Ibrahim, in particular, has his eyes set on winning another gold medal, considering his past successes. These athletes are not only competing for personal glory but also for their country, and their dedication and hard work are expected to shine in the Asian Paralympic Games.
