Islamabad : NDMA’s NEOC (National Emergencies Operation Center) has issued a weather alert as a westerly wave is set to impact the western parts of the country from November 28, 2024. This weather system is expected to bring a combination of rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall across various regions.
The western and upper parts of the country to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with snowfall likely over mountainous areas. In the Pothohar region and its surroundings, rain and thunderstorm is expected.
Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Malakand and Hazara divisions, is expected to receive rain and thunderstorms, along with snowfall in higher altitudes. Meanwhile, the plains of Punjab will largely experience dry conditions, although smog and fog are likely to persist, especially during early morning and nighttime.
The NDMA advises local authorities, emergency responders, and the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Residents in northern and hilly areas should exercise caution while traveling due to the risk of slippery roads and reduced visibility. Farmers are encouraged to safeguard their crops against potential weather impacts. Additionally, people in smog-affected areas are advised to minimize outdoor exposure and take protective measures during low-visibility conditions.
