Pakistan’s Caretaker PM Urges Immediate Gaza Ceasefire and Blockade Removal

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has issued a strong call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, as well as the lifting of the blockade in the region. In a tweet posted on Monday, he emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian population.

Expressing deep concern regarding the ongoing violence and loss of life in Gaza, the Prime Minister condemned Israel’s deliberate, indiscriminate, and disproportionate targeting of civilians, which he stated goes against the principles of civility and constitutes a clear violation of international law.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar underlined the importance of understanding the recent outbreak of violence in the context of the long-standing forced and illegal occupation of Palestinian territory, coupled with repressive policies against its inhabitants.

The Prime Minister called for the urgent intervention of the United Nations and the international community to establish safe and unhindered humanitarian corridors for the transportation of critically needed relief supplies to the besieged Gaza Strip.

He further noted that Pakistan is in close coordination with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its member states regarding the rapidly deteriorating situation in Gaza.

Additionally, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar revealed that Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani will participate in an Emergency Meeting of OIC’s Executive Committee on Wednesday, during which he will advocate for immediate action to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza.
