The Special Envoy to the OIC Secretary General on Kashmir, Yousef M Al Dobeay, has expressed strong support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for the right to self-determination. He made this statement during a joint news conference held in Islamabad alongside Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi. Yousef M Al Dobeay affirmed their commitment to stand with the Kashmiri people and vowed to continue raising their issues on various international platforms.
He also mentioned the OIC’s condemnation of India’s actions on August 5, 2019, urging for a reversal of these measures. During this visit, the Special Envoy is scheduled to meet with the leadership of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He will also visit the Line of Control (LOC) to receive a briefing on the situation on the ground and interact with Kashmiri representatives to better understand their challenges.
Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi expressed gratitude to the OIC for its unwavering support for the Kashmir cause. He highlighted the Indian government’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir, including the arbitrary detention of Hurriyat leadership and thousands of political activists and human rights defenders. He stressed that these actions aim to disempower the Kashmiri population. He also emphasized the importance of implementing OIC resolutions and the action plan adopted by the Contact Group to alleviate the suffering of the Kashmiri people and find a lasting solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
