The core committee meeting for the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood at the main campus. During the meeting, it was decided that the university would host convocations at the main campus in Islamabad as well as in four provincial capitals, including Muzaffarabad and Skardu, from January to May 2024.
Furthermore, the committee outlined a comprehensive program that includes 12 international conferences, seminars, symposiums, alumni gatherings, book exhibitions, research and literary conferences, as well as cultural events.
The meeting reached a unanimous decision to approve the official logo for the Golden Jubilee, which will be officially launched next week and used for all correspondence.
Dr. Nasir instructed the controller of examinations to promptly provide student data and directed the Director of ICT to create and upload the student registration form for the convocation on the university’s website.
The committee also gave the green light to publish the convocation advertisement during the first week of November.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Sahir, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, highlighted that MPhil and PhD graduates from the Urdu Department have collectively authored around 10,000 books, which will be showcased in two exhibitions.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed the university’s intent to provide graduates from the Faculty of Sciences, Arabic and Islamic Studies, and the Faculty of Education with opportunities to display their books in book exhibitions. Additionally, alumni will be invited to an “Alumni Home” event, and video clips of the graduates will be recorded.
