Health officials reported 16 new coronavirus cases across the country in the past week. According to data from the National Institute of Health (NIH), the positivity rate for these cases was 0.61 percent, with two patients in critical condition. Fortunately, no deaths were attributed to COVID-19 during this period, and a total of 2,631 Covid-19 tests were conducted. Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination emphasized the government’s efforts to strengthen Border and Health Services in Pakistan to address potential sub-variants of the virus. They highlighted the presence of surveillance systems at all entry points, including airports, where passengers undergo rapid tests and screening. Additionally, it was noted that 90 percent of the country’s population has already received the Covid-19 vaccine.
