Lahore: Federal Health Secretary Nadeem Mahboob visited Allama Iqbal International Airport to review the arrangements related to Mpox, Ministry of Health spokesperson Sajid Hussain Shah said.
During his visit, the Border Health Services staff at the airport briefed Health Secretary Mahboob on the measures in place. The Secretary expressed satisfaction with the screening and surveillance systems currently operational at the airport.
“The Border Health staff at airports are ensuring the effectiveness of the surveillance and screening systems,” said Nadeem Mahboob. He emphasized that the guidelines provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) are being strictly followed.
Health Secretary Mahboob further highlighted that the Ministry of Health is monitoring the situation daily and stated, “Pakistan’s disease surveillance system is very effective and robust.”
He assured the public that the Mpox situation in Pakistan is completely under control, with only two cases reported in the country following the recent emergency declared by the WHO.
