Beaches are our precious asset, Commander Karachi

PAKISTAN NAVY IN COLLABORATION WITH ORGANIZATION FOR WELFARE AND EMPOWERMENT CONDUCTS MARINE CONSERVATION AND BEACH CLEANING ACTIVITY AT SEA VIEW BEACH KARACHI

Karachi : Under the auspices of Pakistan Navy and collaboration of Organization for Welfare and Empowerment (OWE), a Marine Conservation and Beach Cleaning Activity was conducted at Sea View beach, Karachi.

Approximately 1500 citizens of Karachi from various walks of life including students from different schools, colleges, universities, madrasas and NGOs actively participated in the beach cleaning activity.

Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Muhammad Saleem graced the event as Chief Guest. In his address, the chief guest emphasized that beaches are our precious asset and garbage on the coastline is seriously harmful to the citizens as well as marine environment. Through the activity, he emphasized significance wrt awareness amongst the masses towards protection of marine resources and beach environment from harmful particularly non-biodegradable waste primarily dumped by beach visitors. He highlighted that protection of marine environment is a shared responsibility and everyone must ensure that we do not litter in vicinity of sea. He lauded the support of every participant of the activity and assured that Pakistan Navy will continue to support and plan similar activities including mangrove preservation and plantation in future, as well. He thanked the support of organizers, sponsors, NGOs, participants and media for their support in making the event a success.

Pakistan Navy continuously pursues maritime domain awareness amongst the masses in general and collaborates with relevant stake holders wrt preservation of Marine environment and ecosystem.
