Palestine has called upon the international community to fulfill its historical and legal responsibility to bring an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands. This appeal was made during a general debate on the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The Palestinian representative expressed deep concern over what they described as increasingly harsh and brutal practices by the Israeli occupation. They noted that thousands of Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces, while more than six million have been displaced and forced to become refugees as a result of the conflict.
Throughout the debate, other speakers also voiced serious concerns about the violations of international human rights law occurring in the occupied Palestinian territories. They specifically highlighted issues such as forced evictions and the displacement of Palestinian families in East Jerusalem, which have been sources of ongoing tension and conflict in the region.
The debate underscores the international community’s continued attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its commitment to addressing human rights violations and seeking a peaceful resolution to the longstanding issues in the region.
