Pakistan and Turkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including the trade, economy, culture, and people-to-people contacts. This consensus was reached during a meeting between Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi and Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mehmet Paçaci in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Murtaza Solangi expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its relationship with Turkiye, highlighting the mutual support the two countries have consistently provided each other during challenging times. The Information Minister also condemned a recent bomb blast that had occurred in Turkiye.
Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in drama, media and film production. Murtaza Solangi underscored the significant role that drama and film can play in enhancing a country’s global image and mentioned the popularity of Turkish plays in Pakistan. He expressed Pakistan’s interest in co-producing movies with Turkiye and suggested that Turkish filmmakers could benefit from the tax incentives offered to the film industry in Pakistan. Furthermore, he highlighted the natural beauty of Pakistan’s northern areas as a potential location for Turkish filmmakers to explore and film in.
Murtaza Solangi stressed that collaboration between Pakistan and Turkiye in the field of media is essential, emphasizing the need of the hour. He also suggested the promotion of both countries’ cultures through joint film initiatives, even proposing the screening of joint films at the Pak-China Center.
The Turkish Ambassador expressed his desire to introduce Turkish films to Pakistan and noted that Turkiye is celebrating its 100th anniversary, aiming to make these events memorable by collaborating with Pakistan.
This meeting underscores the mutual commitment of Pakistan and Turkiye to foster stronger ties and collaboration across various sectors, with a particular emphasis on media and film industry cooperation.
