Shanghai Launches Large-Scale Water Recycling Project

Shanghai. : A cooperation agreement on the use of reclaimed water between China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd and Shanghai Chengtou Group Corp was signed, in what Shanghai says is the eastern cosmopolitan’s first large-scale water recycling project in industrial plants. -established shipbuilder.
Under the agreement, both parties will jointly promote the extensive use of recycled water in the shipbuilding industry to further promote green development in the shipbuilding industry.
By introducing treated recycled water from the nearby Shanghai Chengtou Wastewater Treatment Plant, Waigaoqiao Shipyard will replace its ship ballast water, plant water and cooling water commissioning equipment with reclaimed water.
The project, which will start construction this September, will be operational before the end of October. The launch of the project is expected to save 600,000 to 700,000 tons of tap water annually.
Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding is the first industrial enterprise in Shanghai to implement and use reclaimed water systems on a large scale, offering a feasible solution for innovative water conservation in the shipping industry and setting the benchmark for water conservation among ships.
