SUKKUR. Chairman District Council Sukkur Syed Kumail Haider Shah has said that development works are being laid all over the district including Sukkur. Action is being taken against ten contractors who did not work by receiving more than thirty five percent of the amount and they are being blacklisted. For the promotion of tourism, work on new projects will be started in the next two months, he expressed these views while talking to media representatives after the meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to protect against monsoon rains. Syed Kumail Haider Shah said that we have finalized the arrangements to protect against the future monsoon rains taking into account the damage caused by the past rains. To build the drainage station of Sukkur, Rohri, Punoaqal, Salehpat, Kandhra on modern lines, modern machinery has been purchased to extract water from the low-lying areas immediately, and the staff has also been posted in the respective areas. He said that in the meeting held today, the officers of PDMA, Deputy Commissioner, Municipalities, Public Health, Inhar and other departments have been instructed to take better measures to save people from mosquitoes and seasonal diseases after rains. While answering various questions, Syed Kumail Haider Shah said that work is going on on the construction projects under the master planning of Sukkur. PND action has been started against those contractors who have not completed the development work in the last four years, who have received huge amount of money but have not completed the work, soon ten contractors will be blacklisted. He said that we were prepared for the monsoon alert from the federal and provincial governments. Inshallah, everyone will see improvement. Syed Kumail Haider Shah said that he has started work on important projects for the promotion of tourism in Sukkur, which include projects such as resorts near the motorway, improving ferry service, improving the condition of parks.
