(APP): In response to reports of violent incidents against Pakistani students studying in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Foreign Office of Pakistan took swift action by summoning the Charge d’affaires of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Islamabad, Melis Moldaliev, for a demarche. Director General Aizaz Khan conveyed Pakistan’s deep concerns and emphasized the responsibility of the Kyrgyz government to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani citizens residing in Kyrgyzstan.
The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the safety and well-being of its nationals around the world, emphasizing that all necessary measures would be taken to safeguard their interests. In response, the Kyrgyz authorities expressed regret over the incidents of violence and pledged to conduct an inquiry to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Efforts are underway to ensure the safety of Pakistani nationals at risk, with the Embassy of Pakistan in Kyrgyzstan establishing emergency helplines and providing assistance to affected students and their families. Ambassador Hassan Ali Zaigham has been in close contact with senior Kyrgyz authorities to address the situation.
According to the Kyrgyz Health Ministry, while four Pakistani nationals received first aid and were discharged, one remains under treatment for a jaw injury. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar have instructed the Foreign Office to monitor the situation closely and provide full assistance to Pakistani nationals.
The Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that law enforcement agencies promptly arrested individuals involved in the incident, ensuring public order and safety. Medical examinations were conducted for citizens involved in the incident, with no reports of serious injuries.
As both governments collaborate to address the situation and ensure the safety of Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan, efforts continue to provide necessary support and assistance to those affected by the recent violent incident.
