ISLAMABAD : Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the present government is committed for digital transformation in the country.
Minister IT said every citizen has right having quality Internet and broadband facilities, adding that in this regard steps are being taken for provision of telecom services both in urban and rural areas of the country.
Shaza Fatima said under National Fiberization Policy it will be tried to provide Internet access to each home. We will try to give smartphone to every person under Smartphone for All Policy, she said.
Minister of State for IT said that government is taking initiatives to boost ICT sector. She said eighty-five projects worth Rs. 90 billion were awarded to expand internet access in underserved areas to bridge digital divide through Universal Service Fund (USF). Government wanted to end digital divide between rural and and urban areas, she maintained.
Shaza Fatima said that steps will be taken to ensure maximum mobile phones export under Mobile Manufacturing and Export Policy.
Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication said government offered thanks to telecom industry for investment in the country, adding that telecom industry is important tax payer in microeconomy.
She said that telecom industry has vital role in the development of country’s economy, adding that government is focused upon the uplift of IT and Telecom industry
