More Beta users can now access the status tray feature on WhatsApp

In a bid to enhance user experience, WhatsApp is unveiling a redesigned status tray feature, set to be available to more beta users on their smartphones. The update, recently showcased in a WhatsApp beta release, reveals a revamped updates tab, as reported by Techloy.

The notable change lies in the shape of the status update feature, which has transitioned from its former circular form to a rectangular one. This alteration allows users to preview a contact’s status update, providing insight into what to expect upon engagement.

The rollout of this new feature is currently underway in version 2.24.10.10 of WhatsApp beta for Android, with the Meta-owned app keen on garnering feedback from users. This feedback will play a crucial role in determining whether the feature will be integrated into the main WhatsApp application.

However, amidst the anticipation for the new feature, one pertinent question arises: How will WhatsApp ensure the optimal placement of the rectangular status update feature? Balancing its visibility without encroaching on the screen’s real estate, particularly concerning space for channel subscriptions, is a challenge that the messaging platform must address.

As WhatsApp continues to evolve its interface and functionalities, the introduction of the redesigned status tray feature underscores its commitment to refining user interactions and staying at the forefront of messaging technology.
