To commemorate World Rabies Day with the theme “All for One Health for All,” the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore organized an awareness walk and vaccination camp at its City Campus. The aim was to raise public awareness about rabies.
The awareness walk was led by Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Chairman of the Department of Parasitology. Participants included Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, directors/chairpersons from various departments, students, staff members from different departments, and representatives from pharmaceutical industries. The walk began at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and concluded at the Pet Centre after a circuit around the City Campus.
Additionally, the UVAS Pet Centre conducted a free rabies vaccination camp on this occasion. Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf inaugurated the camp by vaccinating a pet cat. The main goal of these activities was to educate the public, vaccinate pets, and work towards the elimination of rabies from the country. Similar events were also organized at other UVAS campuses.
