According to Pakistani official media this week, US tech giant Google plans to open 50 smart schools in the country’s federal capital that will provide AI capabilities and a range of digital tools for “enhanced collaboration and productivity.”
To raise the standard of instruction, a smart school uses innovation and technology in its teaching and learning procedures. To improve students’ learning experiences, smart schools make use of a variety of technology, including virtual reality, artificial intelligence, online learning environments, and interactive whiteboards.
Experts claim that tailored learning, increased resource access, increased teacher-student and parent-student contact, and increased student motivation all result from smart schools. Students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative learning abilities are also encouraged in smart schools.
This week, a Google for Education team and its local partner Tech Valley met with the secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to discuss their recommendations, which included the establishment of smart schools, for Pakistan’s educational system.
“30,000 Google for Education IDs, which include AI-powered features like practice sets and a suite of digital tools for improved collaboration and productivity, will be installed in 50 smart schools in Islamabad.”
“Talks covered a number of upcoming projects, such as teacher training sessions on Google for Education resources, the launch of a public Google Reference School, the provision of Google Career Certificates to 2,000 young people to equip them with employable skills, and the possible cooperation on organizing an Edutech event with the Pakistani Ministry of Federal Education.”
The use of technology in education has significantly increased globally, according to the UNESCO report “Global Education 2020.” According to the research, 80% of students in developed nations utilize technology in the classroom, and 90% of all countries have started projects to incorporate it into education.
Smart School technology has also been embraced by several Asian countries, such as Singapore, China, and South Korea, and has shown to be effective in enhancing the quality of education and learning results, according to a report by “Holistics,” a business intelligence and data analytics platform.
The market for smart schools is predicted to grow from $43.6 billion in 2018 to $73.8 billion by 2025, according to a recent report by the marketing research firm “Markets and Markets.”
