
According to the latest report by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) released on Tuesday, the United States (US), China, and the UK (UK) retained their positions as the primary export destinations for Pakistani products during the first nine months of the current financial year 2023-24.
Data provided by the SBP indicates that the US maintained its top position among these key destinations, with total exports amounting to US $4,046.415 million from July to March 2023-24. This figure represents a decrease from the previous corresponding period, where exports to the US totaled US $4,530.379 million.
Following the US, China emerged as the second-largest export destination for Pakistan, with goods worth US $2,141.737 million exported during the same period. This marks a significant increase of 40.46 percent compared to the previous year’s exports to China, which amounted to US $1,524.761 million.
The UK secured the third position as a top export destination, with Pakistani products valued at $1,529.0428 million exported during the months under review. This shows a slight increase from the previous period’s exports of $1,494.643 million.
Apart from these key destinations, Pakistani exports were also received by other countries. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) saw a notable increase in imports from Pakistan, with goods worth $1,486.937 million compared to $1,081.886 million the previous year, marking a 37.43 percent rise.
Additionally, exports to Germany amounted to $1,120.160 million, while exports to Holland totaled $1,024.731 million. Italy received goods valued at $825.439 million, and Spain imported goods worth $1,084.927 million from Pakistan during the current financial year.
Furthermore, exports to Afghanistan stood at $375.319 million, while exports to Bangladesh recorded $488.322 million. France received goods worth $378.478 million, while Belgium imported products valued at $404.650 million from Pakistan.
Notably, Saudi Arabia’s imports from Pakistan amounted to $516.341 million, and exports to Turkey reached $259.599 million during the current fiscal year.
Overall, despite fluctuations, Pakistan’s exports continue to make significant contributions to various global markets, reflecting the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance its trade relations and economic growth prospects.
