A high-level delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Ms. Chiho Ohashi, visited the Education Secretariat of South Punjab to hold discussions with Secretary of School Education, Dr. Obaidullah Khokhar.
The focus of the meeting was on ensuring the provision of quality education to out-of-school children, with a particular emphasis on implementing modern alternative education models in Sobhn-e-Nau and transgender schools.
In attendance at the meeting were JICA officials, along with Additional Secretary Khawaja Mazhar-ul-Haq and Section Officer/Focal Person for Trans Education, Hina Chaudhry.
The Chief Advisor of JICA commended the initiatives of the School Education South Punjab project for offering free education to children engaged in various labor activities and acknowledged the efforts of the department in conceptualizing and effectively executing the Sobh-e-Nau School Project. This project has successfully provided quality education opportunities to out-of-school and vulnerable children and youth in society.
Ms. Chi Ohashi assured that JICA would fully support the continuity of educational projects in South Punjab, with a focus on enhancing teachers’ technical skills and integrating out-of-school children into the educational system of the School Education Department in South Punjab.
