For March, CPPA requests a rate rise of Rs 2.94 per unit

April 23, ISLAMABAD : Under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism, the Central electricity Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) has requested a 2.94 per unit increase in electricity rate for the month of March. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) received a petition from XWAPDA power distribution companies (DISCOs) stating that the actual cost of energy for the month of March was Rs 9.38 per unit, whereas reference fuel charges were Rs 6.44 per unit. The CPPA-G upheld this finding.

During the specified period, 8,023 GWh of power valued at Rs 66,680 million were generated, and DISCOs received 7,756 GWh of electricity valued at Rs 72,764 million.

Hydrogen generation accounted for 27.63 percent of the total share, followed by coal (10.74 percent), furnace oil (0%), gas (9.91 percent), RLNG (20.67 percent), nuclear (25.79%), wind (2.25 percent), and solar (1.37%). On April 26, the power regulator will hold a public hearing.
