He stated that large-scale tree planting is crucial for tackling Pakistan’s environmental issues and combating climate change. On the occasion of launching the tree plantation drive, the Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq planted a sapling of Magnolia Grandiflora at the Mughal Garden in the Parliament House.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq further praised the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for its goal of planting 1 million trees in Islamabad, acknowledging the initiative as a significant step toward environmental preservation. While initiating the tree plantation campaign, he stressed the importance of tree planting in mitigating the environmental crisis. “Pakistan is one of the most vulnerable countries facing severe environmental threats,” he said, and praised the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and his team efforts for initiative to plant 10 million trees, which he called a pivotal effort for securing the country’s future. He also announced plans to transform Parliament into a “Green Parliament”.

Addressing the media during the tree plantation event, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also discussed the current political situation. He remarked, “The Leader of the Opposition delivered a speech lasting one hour and 21 minutes during current session. However, after the speech, the Leader of the Opposition went outside and told the media they were not given a chance to speak. Isn’t this a contradiction?” He further pointed out, “The opposition enters the House for merely ten minutes, protests, and then leaves. They seem to have no genuine interest in addressing public issues.”

NA Speaker also stated “I will present complete record of the questions and calling attention notice submitted by the opposition benches in the House regarding public-related issues,”. He further emphasized that laws of procedure and parliammetary traditions would be followed during the proceedings of the House.

Regarding the opposition’s stance on the legitimacy of Parliament, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq responded, “The opposition calls this Parliament ‘fake,’ but if so is the case, is it justified for the Leader of the Opposition, the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, and the Chairpersons of Standing Committees to receive salaries and benefits?”

NA Speaker reiterated the importance of dialogue, stating, “Negotiations are the solution to every problem. The doors for dialogue will always remain open, but these dialogue would only be for securing the national interest, not for personal agendas.” He added, “The parliamentary committee on negotiations will remain intact because negotiations are the only way forward.”

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq further stressed the need for adherence to parliamentary rules and traditions. He noted that issues such as production orders and the treatment of prisoners in sub-jails must be handled in line with longstanding parliamentary norms. He expressed concern over the opposition’s neglect in addressing public issues, which he said, undermines the essence of democratic debate and responsibility. He highlighted that despite official correspondence from the National Assembly Secretariat on February 19, 2025 the Opposition had so far not nominated names for Chief Election Commissioner.

NA SPEAKER’S OFFICE OPEN FOR DIALOGUE, BUT FOCUSED ON NATIONAL INTERESTS, NOT ON PERSONAL AGENDAS SAYS NA SPEAKER Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that tree plantation…

[13,4
239
post-26416","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-main-stories","category-national","tag-speaker-national-assembly-of-pakistan
["GET
