RIUJ, in collaboration with IFJ, conducted a training workshop for digital journalists from Rawalpindi and Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Islamabad : – A training workshop on “Media Labour Laws and their Implementation in Pakistan ” was organized by Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) in collaboration with the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital journalists from Islamabad and Rawalpindi attended the event to learn about the laws and to address the challenges faced by digital journalists  in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The training workshop highlighted the critical role of digital journalists in the media landscape of Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Furqan Rao delivered a session on Media laws and their inadequacy in Pakistan, challenges faced by journalists and provided a brief guide to digital journalists according to International standards of Journalism. He engaged participants in practical work through a group activity about designing strategy for digital media platform. Mahnoor Qureshi, being a digital journalist shared her insight about pitching stories to digital media platforms.\u00a0 Mr. Rizwan Gilzai held the second session on the \u00a0Examination of the Labour Law Regime and its Efficacy for Digital Media Workers in Pakistan. And talked about the need of assessment of the Wage Board’s and ITNE’s Performance.He engaged the participants through a group activity about campaign designing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keynote speakers emphasized on the need for reforms to ensure fair treatment and inclusion in unions and press clubs for digital journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IFJ country coordinator Mr. Ghulam Mustafa closed the event by distributing certificates among the participants of the training. He interacted with the participants and shared his views as ‘The workshop provided these participants with crucial insights into media labor rights and their implementation in Pakistan, helping them navigate the evolving landscape of digital journalism with greater confidence and understanding.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
