ISLAMABAD  :  Let me spread the warmest greetings on this day celebrating Day of Russia! This national holiday was established in honour of our Motherland, its vast territory, rich history and culture, diverse and beautiful people. Every year this day is becoming more relevant for our nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia Day Reception was attended by many dignitaries including Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr Musadik Malik, Industries and Production Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, Members of National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Anjum Aqeel Khan, Sehar Kamran, Honorary Consul of Russia in Lahore Habib Ahmed, Ambassadors and other officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev said Russia was striving for a genuinely equitable world order, opposing the \u201ccollective West\u2019s attempts to instill neo-colonial practices\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was speaking at a grand reception held to celebrate the \u2018Day of Russia\u2019, welcoming representatives from friendly countries around the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, Ambassador Khorev highlighted the significance of the event and underscored Russia\u2019s current geopolitical challenges. \u201cRussia is encountering the most serious challenge in its contemporary history with the special military operation in Ukraine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ambassador expressed his pleasure in welcoming the diverse gathering, noting the potential for achieving unforeseen successes through joint efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy acting together in the interest of our countries, we can reach unforeseen successes for the benefit of our people,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, Russia assumed the chairmanship of notable international and regional associations, including BRICS and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ambassador outlined Russia\u2019s priorities during its CIS chairmanship, which included deepening economic integration, enhancing foreign policy coordination, strengthening joint response mechanisms to both traditional and emerging challenges, and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for BRICS cooperation, the ambassador highlighted a commitment to multilateralism, respect for international law based on the United Nations charter, upholding international peace and security, ensuring sustainable development and respecting rights and freedoms for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion or gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed the importance of countering unilateral approaches and restrictive measures that negatively impact the global economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing regional issues, the ambassador reaffirmed Russia\u2019s dedication to resolving international problems. He highlighted Russia\u2019s role in advocating for a resolution to the situation in Gaza based on relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, aiming for the establishment of a fully-fledged Palestinian state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on his six-month tenure in Pakistan, the ambassador recognised the tremendous potential for deepening and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He noted the growing bilateral trade, which exceeded $1 billion last year, and expressed optimism for further growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussia closely cooperates with Pakistan at various international forums, including the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation,\u201d the ambassador said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He appreciated Pakistan\u2019s independent and measured stance on significant global issues and welcomed the increasing bilateral trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Albert Khorev also extended a special welcome to the chief guest, Minister for Petroleum Musadik Masood Malik, whose presence underscored the importance of energy cooperation and security in the bilateral relations between Russia and Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to energy cooperation, the ambassador highlighted Russia\u2019s commitment to the development of the Russian language in Pakistan and the strengthening of cooperation in science, culture and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reception concluded on a hopeful note, with the Russian envoy expressing confidence in the potential for continued collaboration and mutual success between Russia and its international partners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
